About Us
A Small Project at Utrecht University

During the summer of 2016, we were inspired to build a Minecraft clone that does not use a traditional rasterizer, but a photorealistic path tracer. Working at the cutting edge of real-time rendering, we have created such a renderer over the course of three months. Our team consists of five graduate students, each interested in the field. One of us specializes in procedural terrain generation, while the rest focused on developing a fast, real-time path tracing engine that can be used for PathCraft. The result can be viewed and downloaded on this website. We hope you enjoy it!
The Team
Our team consists of the following members:
- Bas Hoogeboom - Terrain generation
- Kevin van Mastrigt - Path tracing, optimization
- Bruno dos Santos Carvalhal - Path tracing, data structures
- Olaf Schalk - Path tracing, data structures
- Casper Schouls - Path tracing, materials
The project was supervised by dr. Jacco Bikker, a teacher at Utrecht University specializing in graphics and optimization. His guidance was extremely helpful and we are thankful for his contributions.
